A charming wine with delicate and enchanting accents. It gives an impression of youth and vigour but also tenderness and serenity. The ultimate in refinement. The harmony of the blend develops during a long maturing process lasting at least thirty months in the Piper-Heidsieck chalk cellars. Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rose 1998 75cl Bottle
An extremely cold winter, with snow on the Montagne de Reims, gave way to an unexpected warm spell with moderate rain showers. A little frost was noted in the most vulnerable areas. Spring was early and wet, while May was particularly hot and dry. Rain at the end of June did not affect flowering, which took place under excellent, nearly heat wave, conditions. Rain and hot weather alternated at the beginning of summer, encouraging the vines to grow rapidly. August was dry and sunny, perfect for ripening the grapes. After a grey and cloudy two weeks at the beginning of September, the weather turned, providing the ideal dry climate to harve... (read more)

The climactic conditions for 2002 were ideal, characterized by low rainfall and drier weather with a healthier atmosphere than the previous years and few unfavourable incidents. The spring was superb with only slight spring frosts causing very localised damage during the night of 15 April. July and August were warm with the occasional thunderstorm and the threat of drought was kept at bay by some welcome rainy spells. There was then little more rain for the rest of September where sunny, windy conditions prevailed. This led to a rare concentrat... (read more)
